Silent Candlelight Vigil for Non-violence

Thursday, August 26, 2010

POST ON BEHALF OF CANDLELIGHT VIGIL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
- Originally posted by http://zohare.blogspot.com/

Time
Saturday · 8:00pm - 9:30pm

LocationPNCA Auditorium Parking Lot Islamabad

We invite you to join us in a moment of strength and solidarity to stand together and collectively condemn all forms of violence, especially in light of recent events in Sialkot. The purpose is not to target  a particular organization or group of people but to acknowledge  the role each of us as ordinary Pakistanis have failed to play in preventing this degeneration of our society.

Let us take this moment to pledge towards change, towards countering apathy and towards playing a stronger, active role in reconstructing our society and our country.

We strongly oppose vigilante justice and intolerance and violence and we are committed to bringing about the change that is needed!

Please assemble at the PNCA parking lot (behind Marriott) at 8pm on Saturday and bring at least one candle. We will walk to Constitution Avenue  and we will stand together in silent protest for one hour. The media will be invited to cover the event.

Taravee at Faisal Mosque

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Ramadan Kareem to the entire muslim population across the planet..

I went to taravee at faisal mosque today and it was heart contenting. Its been a while now, that i had so much peace offering these special supplications. My advice to all the people living in Isloo or visiting here in Ramadan, do go for a taravee offering there... its worth the experience.
And yes for Ramadan 2010. the timing for Isha prayers at Faisal Mosque is 8.45 pm
[i tried but couldn't find this info on the web] :)

The congregation is way much lower than i anticipated and there are a lot of media crew getting the taravee footage out of the prayer proceedings, but the tilawat is sweet and although the imam is a govt. officer still he seemed like an honest cleric. Prior to the prayer, he briefly gave out a nice sermon. There are a lot of visitors too, so don't expect that everyone will be praying because many of them are just there for sight seeing...

Lastly, also carry with yourself 2 Rs. loose change per pair of shoes because they deposit our shoes at the entrance of the mosque and its quite an embarrassment when convincing them that you just came for namaz and left your wallet in the car.... Peace out!!!

Cloudy Morning & Client's Brief

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

After a boring day yesterday, finally i got to get up early morning and go to a client here... The weather, absolutely fantastic, over gusted skies with a little bit of drizzling and a chance of thunderstorm predicted.....

Murree Brewery 1860. (The oldest brewery in Pakistan)
Thunderstorm cloud over Islamabad Express Way

Well, it was fun......& the meeting..... Don't even get me started there........ The essence is people who works in the ad industry, stay the heck away from anything which even remotely resemble a dragon-lion hybrid and was established in 1860....  Till later.....Adieu'

Islamabad - The place where Moths commit mass suicides

Ok... tonight was interesting, i wanted to see the city from the top. So i went to the city view at damn-e-koh. now supposedly its 134 m above sea level, anyways the drive was really nice and only adding to the flavor was a very light shower....

Here is a tower view of the federal capital:

City View - from the top of Damn-e-koh

And then after a while i realized another interesting fact.... .although the rains are nice here but it also serves as as an invitation to the mass suicide annual fair for the moths.... there are literally so many everywhere... i tried capturing a shot with my cell phone. hope  could make the heads out tails in this pic

Millions of Moths committing suicide after isloo's rain!
