Change - Reality or Fantasy?

Friday, October 8, 2010

‎"Naqar Khanay main Totti ki awaz" ever heard about that one???? can i give u an estimated figure of articles published at various publications/blogs/epapers, not to forget the no. of tv shows and programs all amplifying the voices, which a lot of our change promoters constantly harp about....

Take a look around, Pakistan and Pakistanis although still resilient to shy away from demanding change, have somehow delved into a state of acceptance. People talk about change, revolution, protests and demonstrations but everybody is busy trying save his own skin first.

According to che guevara , change can either come from the very top or it may start toppling everything from the very bottom - which leads me to a conclusion that either we have to wait for the time when we hit the rock bottom and then we create enough inertia to start this change ripple or we rise to the very top and push the change inside, all the way to the very core. But as u will agree, reaching the top comes with its own share of moral corruption in an already rotten environment.

In conclusion, i remain skeptical that there would be any change happening any time soon, and i would want to quote Habib Jalib here,

"10 karor yeh gadhay, jin ka naam hai awaam,
Inki maut hogayee, Inki Kismetain zulmaton main kho gayee..."

Sigh..................................................

Single Minded Proposition & PR Campaign

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

The need to understand the importance of a single minded proposition when devising a Public Relations Campaign holds the power to execute and deliver excellence, Just like a solid foundation holds a building from swaying and gives it structural strength, a simplified, clear and concise single minded proposition paves way for an effective image building.

SMP can be implied across the wide array of PR tools available but before setting a strategy, the communications team should be able to decipher the pros and cons of the brand. Single minded proposition are compelling reasons why the potential customers should believe in the proposition? - this is however, not an opportunity to include all the secondary selling points that was excluded in the main proposition.

How does a communication specialist identify and set the tone for SMP correctly? we need to review the following key points:

  1. Product characteristics - can be ingredients, durability etc
  2. Price characteristics like lasts longer, cheaper etc
  3. Image characteristics like quality, good value, friendly etc
  4. Direct comparison with competitors - owning a unique stand
  5. How the product is made?
Just like the creative process in advertising, the process of devising a effective PR strategy must undergo a treatment from research to an analysis of target audience's profiling, an attempt on reading their mindsets to anticipating the reaction. Once, SMP is developed, it must be applied throughout the PR campaign to establish credibility around the brand. Consistency in communication when referencing a PR campaign is an absolute must, Communication should be designed and done in absolute coordination with the single minded proposition to yield better and quick results.

Is the nation receptive to a change?

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Looking at the news and current political happenings in Pakistan, made me ask myself this question. Are we really receptive and supportive to a change?

Well, Over the years one thing is for sure, Pakistanis have become pessimists. No change agent, no actions no willingness, its like we have accepted our faiths. Now with the political front changing its dynamics as new blocks and partnerships are being formed the support from the nation is still an area left ignored.

We have been promised so many times that the statements and speeches done at press conference doesn't entice as anymore. One could easily understand the level of compromise we as a nation have taken upon us, believing the sorry state of affairs as our fate. APML promises to be the change agent and i wish them luck but my concern remains, how will 18 million respond to a new call when we r busy seeing lawyers beating the shit out of cops and cops throwing smoke grenades and killing innocent on the road. I as a Pakistani remains doubtful too for the time being.........

Have to let go Sometimes

HAVE TO LET GO SOMETIME
By Sajid Ghafoor

You were laughing
When I was leaving
Bet you were counting stars till you could ignore

I kept on wondering,
While you had stopped to
Figure out just why it went wrong
and why it seemed right
when everything was good as it was

But if am knocking
Then you wont listen now
I know I've faded far out through your mind
Yes I had drifted
But I was holding on
How would I know it would feel so strong

We kept each other, apart to be there.
Where we would feel just close but not subdued.
Am still repeating, over completing
All that went through me, that I could not just show to you

But if am knocking,
Then you wont listen now
I know I've faded far out through your mind
I know we suffered, see I'm still suffering now
But then I know I have to let go sometime

It's getting late and years go by light speed
Will crawl out of this all when am complete
I'll be holding on to nothing but myself
I'll be moving on, moving on. Moving on

But if am knocking
You won't listen now
I know I've faded far out through your mind
Yes I had drifted
But I was holding on
How would I know it would feel so strong
It would feel so strong, would feel so strong
It would feel so, strong
